Wireless Access Policy

Wireless Access Policy

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will provide free, wireless Internet access for users with portable computers or devices capable of receiving wireless signals, during normal library business hours.  The library’s wireless infrastructure uses 802.11n and 802.11ac protocols as its wireless network standards, transmitting in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio frequency spectrums, with the intention of delivering speeds of up to 35 Mbps to mobile and wireless devices within range.

Library staff will provide instructions in signing into the Wi-Fi network, but are not responsible for any changes you make to your computer’s settings and cannot guarantee your hardware will work with our wireless connection. Staff may not be able to provide further instruction, operate the computer for patrons, or troubleshoot personal computers.

All Wireless Access Points on the library’s network are centrally managed by the IT Manager. If a user has problems accessing the Internet over these connections, staff will verify the library’s connections are up and running and can provide limited technical support, but they cannot assist in making changes to the user’s network settings on the user’s computer. Please refer to your owner’s manual or other support services offered by your device manufacturer.

Patrons and guests may print from the public computers or wirelessly from their personal devices. Printing fees will apply.

Use of our access points is governed by our Internet and Public Computer Acceptable Use Policy.

WARNING: The Library is not liable for the consequences of wireless network use in any way, including the transmission of computer viruses, loss of data or e-mail, or any harm resulting from the use of an unsecured server.
