2024 TELL-A-TALE CONTEST
We will begin accept submissions for the 2024 Tell-A-Tale contest from
Wednesday, February 1, 2024 - Tuesday February 29, 2024
Write a short story (350 word maximum) and submit it with a signed entry form to the Findlay-Hancock county Public Library. Children in grades K-5 who live or attend school in Hancock County, Ohio are eligible to enter. Children can write about any topic, and stories may be fiction or nonfiction. Older children should print or type their story. Adults can assist younger children by writing/typing their story for them. The child can also include illustrations but illustrations are not required.
Our judging panels will be composed of small volunteer groups from local organizations and businesses, who will rank the top three stories in each grade level. All winning stories will be printed in a 2024 Tell-A-Tale book. Below are the forms and resources for you to use. If you hover over the form or resource you wish to have, the color of the text will change. Select the form you want, and print!

Illustration Contest
We have partnered with the Mazza Museum to include an illustration portion of our Tell-A-Tale writing contest. Any child submitting a story entry for Tell-A-Tale will automatically have the cover illustration of their story entered into the illustration contest. A group of volunteers from Mazza will judge the illustrations and rank the top three illustrations in each grade level. All winning illustrations will be printed in the 2024 Tell-A-Tale book.
(All eligible illustrations MUST be submitted with a story. Illustrations submitted by themselves will not be judged.)
