With funding from the Friends of the Library and expertise from the Millstream Astronomy Club, the Library launched a Lending Telescope Program on June 22, 2017. The goal of the program is to help foster scientific literacy, stimulate an interest in astronomy, and provide people who have never looked through a telescope the chance to experience the excitement that comes from discovery.

Patrons, age eighteen years or older with a valid Findlay-Hancock County Public Library card, will be able check out the telescope for a two-week period.  Because of the cost of the telescope, there are requirements and restrictions when checking it out through the Adult Services Department. For more information, contact the Adult Services Department at 419-422-1712.

The New Hampshire Astronomical Society started placing telescopes and educational materials in selected libraries in New Hampshire in December 2008 Today over 100 telescopes are loaned from libraries in New Hampshire and the program is spreading to other states.
