Deep Image Poetry was developed by a number of modern poets in the 1960's, and became another of many ways created to move poetry away from the formal outwardly focused poetry of the 1950's towards a more personal, inward focusing, conversational poetry. Marianne Hoffer, instructor, will examine some classic Deep Image poems, focusing on language and structure. Writers of all levels are welcome.

Haiku and Tanka are at once the simplest and most difficult forms of poetry to master. The variation between haiga, senryu, and even free verse can be astonishing.
