Celebrate National Library Week April 13-19

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library joins libraries nationwide in celebrating National Library, April 13-19, with the theme “Lives Change @ your library.”  
The library is celebrating National Library Week by holding special programs along with giveaways.  A Readers Advisory Class will be held on Monday, April 14 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The class will review a variety of readers’ advisory websites, which assist readers in choosing books they will enjoy. Master Gardener Lori Inkrott will present a program on small gardens on April 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A Gentle Reads book discussion will be held on April 16 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. discussing the book, While We’re Far Apart by Lynn Austin.  Teens can participate in a Dr. Who Teen fan program on Wednesday, April 16 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
A Spring Salads program will be held on Thursday, April 17 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Participants will receive tips and salad recipes from Karen McDougall, from the OSU Extension Office.  Mystery writers Judy Clemens, from Ottawa, Ohio and Libby Fischer Hellman, Chicago, will discuss their books and give tips on the writing process on April 17 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.

Local Author Talk. April 26. 2:30-3:30

Local author, S.K. Logsdon, previously mentioned in USA Today, will be presenting an author talk followed by a book signing. She will be talking about each of her Contemporary Erotic Romance series "Stricken Rock" and "Attraction" as well as the trials and tribulations of becoming a self-published author. Note: this program is for adults only due to its mature content.

Be Red Cross Ready. April 23. 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Be Red Cross Ready by attending this informative program. Natural and human caused disaster can strike at anytime and anywhere.  It is vital to prepare before disaster strikes.  The American Red Cross Hancock County Chapter will train participants how to be "Red Cross Ready" Each family will receive a bag that contains information and a first aid kit.

Cookbook Club: Vegetarian. April 24 11:00-Noon

The theme for April is "Vegetarian." There are many tasty and filling alternatives to meat. Come learn how to get enough protein and nutrients with a vegetarian diet. Incorporate more produce into your cooking and create exciting and healthy vegetarian meals. Find your favorite vegetarian recipe and come share it with the group.
